Too many biopics on Jayalalithaa on the way!

On Wednesday evening, Vibri Media announced that Vijay will be directing the biopic of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The latest update is that Mysskin’s associate Priyadhaarshini who is currently directing a film with Varalakshmi says that she is also working on a biopic of Jayalalalithaa and an official announcement on the cast and crew will be announced on September 20th, 2018.Priyadhaarshini says that she will start the shoot of Jayalalithaa biopic on the late Chief Minister’s birthday (February 24). 'Geetha Govindam' grosses massive $400k

As expected, Vijay Deverakonda's Geetha Govindam took a flying start at box-office. The film has set box-office on fire. As is evident with the advance booking sales, the film took bumper openings all over AP and Telangana as well as in USA. The film collected massive numbers from USA Premieres.The film took $400k from the premiere shows The film took $400k from the premiere shows which is on par with some of the biggest hits of Tollywood. This year only Rangasthalam, Agnyaathavasi and Bharat Ane Nenu raked in such huge numbers from premiere shows. This is fourth highest premiere number for a Telugu film in 2018.Despite not getting many screens in Hyderabad due to other holdover movies, Geetha Govindam has registered solid numbers in Hyderabad multiplexes as well. It remains to be seen how this would fare in the coming days.
Chai - Sam film to be titled 'Majili'?

Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, the real life couple, have teamed up together for another film and this was recently launched with much fanfare. Naga Chaitanya and Samantha are acting together in a film being directed by Siva Nirvana who shot to fame with Ninnu Kori.The romantic drama is likely to be titled 'Majili' (Halting place in a journey). This title has been registered at Film Chamber of Commerce.Naga Chaitanya and Samantha have first paired up in Ye Maya Chesave in 2010 and since then they have acted together in two more films.
Aadhi to remake the Telugu blockbuster RX 100 in Tamil!

When Aadhi made his debut in Tamil with ‘Mirugam’, everyone praised him for his raw and rustic performance. The latest is that the tall and handsome actor has once again got a chance to play a village rogue in an upcoming Tamil film. To be produced by Auraa Cinemas, the yet-untitled film is the remake of Telugu blockbuster film ‘RX 100’.In his official statement, Auraa Cinemas’ Mahesh said:“As a producer, I keep my eyes and ears open to the happenings in other language films too. I had traveled to Hyderabad to watch this film RX 100 and instantly decided to remake this film. I have a great working relationship with Aadhi and we were keen to do a film together. Few ideas were discussed and ultimately we landed on RX 100.  I’m thrilled in making this film in Tamil”.Mahesh is currently searching for the director who can bring the essence of the original version in Tamil. As the heroine’s role also has a great scope in the film, the producers are also searching for an apt female lead.
Dhruv Vikram booked for rash driving, one person injured!

Actor Vikram’s son Dhruv who is making his debut in movies very soon is in the news for wrong reasons!According to reports, the aspiring actor's car hit three stationary autorickshaws and one person was injured due to the impact. The autorickshaws suffered huge damage. The incident happened near Chennai Police Commissioner residence in Teynampet. Currently, cops are investigating whether it was a case of drunken driving!Police says that Dhruv has been booked under section 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) and 337(Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC. He has also been granted bail.An auto driver who was sleeping inside the parked vehicle was severely injured and is admitted in a nearby hospital. On the film front, Dhruv is acting in Varma, the Tamil remake of Telugu blockbuster film Arjun Reddy.  It is yet not confirmed if Dhruv was under the influence of alcohol but it's high time that actors should use drivers when they attend late night parties. Recently, actors like Jai and Arun Vijay names were also involved in the drunken driving cases. 
Ram Charan resumes action from Independence Day

Ram Charan who is taking a break from the regular shoot of his current film will commence working in the new schedule from Independence day (August 15). Strangely, the unit is resuming work on National Holiday, which is holiday even for cinema unit workers.The action drama is being directed by Boyapati Srinu. A major part of the movie has already been finished. Boyapati will now be filming action stunts. “These are not action sequences, emotional scenes with some action,” says Boyapati.The film has Kiara Advani of Bharat Ane Nenu fame as the female lead. DVV Danayya is producing it. Although the film’s regular shoot will be completed in two months, it will only hit the screens for Sankranthi 2019.

The opposition leader recently said that how one could take Pawan Kalyan’s statements seriously as he keeps changing wives like some people change cars frequently. Pawan Kalyan gave a reply now. “It was my karma that I got married thrice, not for fun. Due to my bad fate, those marriages didn’t work out and I had to marry three times. USA BO: Srinivasa Kalyanam a huge flop

With films like Gunde Jaari Gallanthaindhi and A Aa, Nithin had created a good market for himself in the USA but the actor has killed it himself with silly choice of scripts. Trivikram directed A Aa grossed $2.49 million but his immediate next film LIE grossed a mere $250k. The next film Chal Mohan Ranga collected $410k gross in its first weekend and ended its lifetime gross with about half-million dollars. His latest film Srinivasa Kalyanam despite the fact that the film was produced by Dil Raju has just able to gross mere $200k in the first weekend that premiered last Wednesday. Such a low collection. The film’s collections in the US prove that Nithiin has lost market and it also affirms the fact that there is no value for 'brand' Dil Raju among overseas audiences.

PVR Cinemas to acquire southern multiplex major SPI Cinemas

Mumbai: Multiplex theatre major PVR Ltd on Sunday said its Board of Directors has approved the acquisition of 71.69 per cent stake in SPI Cinemas Pvt Ltd, involved in the business of movie exhibition and allied businesses, for Rs 633 crore.In a regulatory filing in BSE, the company said the acquisition of the stakes in SPI Cinemas will be from two shareholders viz 61.65 per cent from SS Theatres LLP and 10.04 per cent from S.V. Swaroop Reddy.The Board of PVR also approved provisions for customary call/put options for the acquisition of the remaining 28.31 per cent stake in SPI Cinemas from SS Theatres, if triggered for a consideration not exceeding Rs 300 crore.

The completion of acquisition is expected to be over within 30 days from the execution of share purchase agreement (SPA) and the amalgamation within a period of 18 months from the date of completion of acquisition or some other mutually agreed date between the parties to the SPA.According to PVR, the acquisition is subject to the regulatory approvals.The SPI Cinemas has an asset base of Rs 319.63 crore, turnover of Rs 309.60 crore and net worth of Rs 73.74 crore as on March 31.The acquisition of SPI Cinemas will give PVR a strong foot hold in the southern market.The SPI Cinemas has 76 screens across 17 properties in 10 cities, with 13 screens to be opened in the next 12 months.According to the regulatory filing, as part of the amalgamation SS Theatres will get 18.19 per cent fully paid up equity shares of PVR for every fully paid up equity shares of SPI Cinemas held by SS Theatres.The acquiring company PVR said Rs 100 crore - part of the price - will be paid on deferred basis on achievement of milestones.
